On July 30, Nicholas conducts the BBC Philharmonic in the world première of Anna Clyne’s The Gorgeous Nothings featuring the Swingles as soloists. This will be followed by Olivier Messiaen’s Turangalîla Symphony, with soloists Steven Osborne (piano) and Cynthia Millar (Ondes Martenot).
On August 20, Aurora returns with another memorised performance, this time to commemorate the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony. It will be preceded by an exploration of the work, involving actors and both the BBC Singers and National Youth Choir of Great Britain. This Prom will be broadcast on BBC TV.
