Nicholas & Aurora launch Crowdfunder campaign for ‘Insomnia’ Album Recording

Aurora Orchestra needs your help to raise £10,000 to fund its next recording for release on the Warner Classics label.

We will return to the studio in November to record a second album – Insomnia – based around a collaboration with the fabulous tenor Allan Clayton, due for release in the winter of 2015/16.

A characteristically eclectic Aurora programme, the album will take the listener on a journey through the darkness of a sleepless night. Repertoire includes music by Britten (his extraordinary Nocturne) and Brett Dean (Pastoral Symphony), alongside other music of the night from composers Thomas Adès, Ivor Gurney and Ligeti (the Poème symphonique for 100 metronomes), and one or two unexpected surprises.

This is a golden opportunity for the orchestra to record some of the repertoire close to its heart alongside one of UK’s brightest vocal stars.

A recording project like this needs a big investment from the orchestra: Aurora is responsible for all the costs involved in producing the recording, with their colleagues at Warner Classics then distributing and promoting the album all over the world.

They’re looking for people to join their circle of supporters to help make the project a reality and take the next vital step in the orchestra’s artistic development. They need your help to raise £10,000 between now and the start of the recording sessions in November.

There are also amazing rewards on offer to those who pledge. For full details, and to make your pledge, go to http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/aurora.
