Making a welcome return, Nicholas will conduct the CBSO on 14 October at Symphony Hall with a programme including Nielsen’s Violin Concerto with Pekka Kuusisto and Dvorak’s joyous 6th Symphony. Nicholas will then take to the Royal Festival Hall stage on 22 October to conduct the Philharmonia Orchestra in an enticing programme to include the UK premiere of Chin’s dazzling Clarinet Concerto (with Kari Kriikku), Wagner’s Prelude and Liebestod from Tristan und Isolde (sung by Alwyn Mellor) and Ravel’s Daphnis et Cloé, Suite No.2. The Aurora Orchestra will see Nicholas conduct Britten’s last chamber opera The Turn of the Screw with Sophie Bevan (Governess), Ann Murray (Mrs Grose), Andrew Staples (Quint), Jane Irwin (Miss Jessel) and Sophie Hunter. Performances will take place at Snape Maltings Concert Hall on 24 October and LSO St Luke’s on 26 October.
