This week Nicholas Collon makes his debut conducting the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, replacing Jaap van Zweden at two days’ notice.
He will conduct Shostakovich Chamber Symphony, Bernstein Serenade with soloist Renaud Capuçon, and Beethoven Symphony No.5 in concerts on 29 November at Antwerp’s De Singel, 1 December at the Paris Philharmonie and 2 December at Halle aux Grains, Toulouse. The Paris concert will be recorded by France Musique for future broadcast.
Nicholas returns to Paris in June 2018 with the Aurora Orchestra for a Mozart programme at the Seine Musicale on Ile Seguin, and already has guest engagements planned in both Antwerp and Paris in future seasons.
Earlier this month Collon debuted with the Dresden Philharmonic (Gershwin, Ravel, Bernstein), and has already been reinvited, while two weeks ago he conducted the Bamberg Symphony in concert for the first time in Shostakovich & Rachmaninov:
