Brahms Symphony No.1 from memory with Aurora Orchestra

Brahms Symphony No.1 from memory with Aurora Orchestra

Nicholas conducts the Aurora Orchestra in two performances of Brahms Symphony No.1 at London’s St John’s Smith Square on 3 June and Birmingham’s Symphony Hall on 4 June.

This is thought to be the first European performance of a Brahms symphony from memory since Brahms himself attended a memorised performance by the Meiningen Court Orchestra in the 1880s.

The alpine theme in the final movement of the symphony links it with the second piece on the programme for both concerts: Richard Ayres In The Alps (No.42) with Mary Bevan as soprano soloist. The performance will feature elements of theatre and film.
