In April, Nicholas returns to the UK for a series of concerts with the Aurora Orchestra, The Halle and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
On 6 and 7 April Nicholas conducts the Aurora Orchestra and soloists Charles Owen and Mark Stone in Gulbenkian, Canterbury and King’s Place, London. The orchestra continues their journey through Beethoven’s symphonies with No. 4, alongside Martin Suckling’s song cycle Candlebird and Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 16.
Nicholas then conducts The Hallé in four performances at Bridgewater Hall, featuring Boris Giltburg and Augustin Hadelich. Watch Nicholas preview these concerts in the videos below.
Later in the month, Nicholas conducts the City of Birmingham Symphony at Symphony Hall with Sophie Bevan. Shostakovich’s gripping Tenth Symphony is paired with miniatures by Ravel and Britten’s luminous songs.
