Nicholas will make his concert debut with both the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra in January 2016. The NYOGB (with whom he holds an alumni position) will see Nicholas conduct Tchaikovsky’s Fantasy Overture from Hamlet, Korngold’s Violin Concerto (with Tai Murray) and Prokofiev’s magnificent 5th Symphony. Concerts will take place on 2 January at Leeds Town Hall and 3 January at the Barbican in London, to be recorded by the BBC for broadcast on 4 January. Conducting the RTÉ at Dublin’s National Concert Hall on 8 January, Nicholas will be joined by cellist Leonard Elschenbroich to perform Bloch’s Hebrew Rhapsody. The programme will also include Elgar’s In the South and Prokofiev’s Symphony No.5.
